[Peter] Henley Esq. the Chief Justice of North Carolina.

These are in His Majesty's Name to Authorize and require you forthwith to cause Letters Patents to pass under the Seal of His Majesty's Province of North Carolina for constituting & appointing Peter Henley Esqr., His Majesty's Chief Justice of & in His Majesty's said Province in the room of Enoch Hall Esqr. deceased, To have, hold, exercise & enjoy the said Office unto him the said Peter Henly during His Majesty's Pleasure & his Residence within His Maty's said Province, to gether with all & singular the Rights, Profits, Privileges & Emoluments to the said Place belonging in as full & ample manner as the said Enoch Hall or any other Person hath held or of right ought to have held & enjoyed the same, with full Power & Authority to hold the Supreme Courts of Judicature, at such Places and Times as the same may & ought to be held within His Majesty's said Province, And for so doing this shall be your Warrant; And so we bid you farwell, Given at Whitehall the 20th Day of May 1755 in the Twenty Eighth Year of His Majestys Reign. |
