To his Exelency Arthur Dobbs Esquire Captain General Governor And Commander in Chief In and over the Province of North Carolna—

The Petition of the upper Inhabbitance of Johnstone County on the North Side of Neuse River humbly Sheweth That your Petitioners have Sered as foot Souldiers under the Command of Robert Cade Esqr. as Capt. from Greens Path to the bounds of the County, and the Said Cade has hitherto at all times behaved like a faithfull Capt. Under your Exelency and at the Motion of Some Person or persons unknown to us your Excelency has been pleased to Grant Captains Commissions to One Robert Bryant [an]d one Edward Mobbly and Appointed them Such Limits Which quite Defeats the sd. Robert Cade Esqr. from being Captain, he not having a sufficient number of Men to Make a Company, and the Said Mobbly is a person Very unable to Execute the office of a Captain your P[illegible] Therefore Humbly Pray that the sd. Company may be restored to the sd. Robert Cade Esqr. from Green’s Path to Smiths Creek and that Cornelius Keith May be Appointed Captain from thence to the upper End of the sd. County and your Petitioners as in duty Bound Shall Ever pray—
