Biographical Description

John Horniblow (d. 1799) was a justice of the peace and tavern keeper in Edenton, North Carolina. He owned his tavern, called the King's Arms by 1770 and it was located next to the Chowan County Courthouse. His first wife, Anne was a signer of the Edenton Tea Party Resolves in 1774. In 1777 he signed an oath swearing his allegiance to the State of North Carolina and promised to report any treasonous conspiracies that might threaten North Carolina's independence. Later he signed a bond promising that John McCrohon would appear before the Edenton District Superior Court in May 1778.
