Ruby Rogers (née Freeman) was born on July 3, 1896, in North Carolina. Rogers was the wife of Leonidas S. Rogers, of Rolesville, Wake County, North Carolina. On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 30, 1918, she was assaulted by an unknown assailant she described as being African American. Local white citizens retaliated by lynching a man named George Taylor. Rogers died in Raleigh on April 29, 1965.
