Gov. T. W Bickett-
Dear Sir-
Mr. J. G. L Crocker the father of the young man, Dean Crocker, who is appealing from the decision of the local exemption board, wishes me to state to you his physical condition. Mr Crocker has tuberculosis, has been confined to his room for sixteen months. He is no better & as he is nearly seventy years old, I don’t think there is much hope of improvement. Mr Crocker is a man of moderate means. His business affairs are managed by this son, and as his unmarried son, who lives here is in Class 1 of course he can’t hope to receive any help from him. Mr Crocker was for 20 years or more of his life vitally connected with business interests of his county, for a number of years chairman of the Board of County Commissioners, for 14 years Treasurer of the county & chairman of the board of Education up to the time of his illness. He is a broad-[illegible], Public-[illegible] citizen as Mr Mydeske, Capt Mason or any of his countyman will tell you & I know he is one of the last men to shirk the responsibility of citizenship & if it was not nessary for this boy to stay with him he would not ask you for any aid that you could be to him.
Sincerely yours
