Samuel Thackston was a resident of Orange County, North Carolina by 1771. He was likely related the son of James Thackston who owned a store in Hillsborough with fellow merchant William Johnston. During the War of Regulation the Thackstons did business with the North Carolina Militia. Thackston died in Orange County in about 1782.
