Peter Harper was a resident of Craven County, North Carolina. He enlisted in the North Carolina Militia during the War of Regulation and died during the Battle of Alamance on 16 May 1771. Following his death, his wife Elizabeth Harper successfully petitioned the North Carolina Assembly for a widow's pension and was awarded one hundred pounds for the purchase an enslaved individual for her personal use.
