Elizabeth Wellwood was a resident of Chowan County by 1771 when she married Robert Patterson. In 1774 she signed a non-importation agreement that later became known as the Edenton Tea party Resolves. After surviving her husband's death in 1780 she never remarried and died in Chowan County in about November 1792.
