Biographical Description

Thomas Godwin was born in about 1656 in Virginia. A resident of Nansemond, Virginia, he served as a captain in the local militia. After John Lear's death in 1695, Godwin became an executor of Lear's estate and went to North Carolina to collect money from Lear's properties in that colony. Godwin died in New Kent, Virginia in May 1714.
