Biographical Description

William Dove was from England and arrived in Salem, Massachusetts by 1715. From Salem, Dove captained the schooner Restoration, which made regular trips from Massachusetts to North Carolina. In 1719 North Carolina Governor Charles Eden purchased gunpowder from Dove while his ship lay in port at Edenton. Dove died sometime after May 1730.
