Biographical Description
Julia McDowell (née Manly) was born in North Carolina on December 7, 1832. Her 1854 marriage to James Charles Sheffield McDowell is mentioned briefly in the diary of Margaret Eliza Cotten Engelhard, held by the State Archives of North Carolina. She died in Morganton (Burke County) on June 10, 1900.
