Biographical Description
James E. Wilcox was born on August 25, 1876, in Weeksville, North Carolina. Wilcox was convicted of murdering Nell Cropsey, his sweetheart, in 1902. He was pardoned by Governor Thomas W. Bickett in 1918, having served only half of his prison sentence. He died on December 4, 1934.
