Biographical Description

Tom Freeman was a Weyanoake American Indian who helped guide a group of colonial traders down Blackwater River to a Weyanoake village near the North Carolina-Virginia border in 1667. Tom Freeman could have been related to John Freeman a white landowner from Norfolk County, Virginia whose descendants later bought land from the Chowan Indians, but any further information about Tom Freeman has not been located.
