Numa Albert Lasley was born in Stokes County, North Carolina, on January 16, 1877. Lasley likely moved to North Wilkesboro (Wilkes County) around 1910 where he worked as a police officer. He served as the town’s chief of police from 1913 until about 1915 when he returned to Stokes County. By 1925, he had moved to Winston-Salem (Forsyth County), where he worked in real estate and as a mechanical engineer. Lasley died at his home in Forsyth County on April 13, 1943.
