Biographical Description

Allen Jones (1739-1807) was a politician and soldier who served as the Brigadier General for the Halifax District Brigade of the North Carolina Militia. After the Gourd Patch Conspiracy was unveiled in July 1777 and the major of its leadership was captured, Governor Caswell ordered Jones to keep a guard at the Halifax prison and powder magazine to prevent any further disturbances.
