Jane McKimmon (née Simpson) was born November 13, 1867, in Raleigh, North Carolina. McKimmon was a public servant, home demonstration agent, and lecturer. During World War I, she was appointed to serve as director of home economics by Gov. Thomas W. Bickett. In this role, she assisted with war-time food conservation efforts. McKimmon died in Wake Forest (Wake County) on December 1, 1957.
