June 23rd, 1919.
Mr. Hayden Clement,
Salisbury, N.C.
My dear Mr. Clement:-
I am much interested in your letter of June 19th, and desire to express to you my profound appreciation of your activities in the settlement of the labor troubles in Cabarrus.
I certainly appreciate your backing up my position, and you may be assured that I shall not hesitate to call upon you for assistance whenever an occasion may arise.
You may have inferred from my letter to Mr. Clark, copy of which was sent you, that I did not altogether relish the tenor of his letter. I think you are handling the case of the alleged assault in exactly the right way.
Very truly yours,
[unsigned]
