An a mended Declaration of Huldah Hill widow of John Hill deceased who was a Soldier of the Army of the revolution, Petition for Pension

Be it known that before me James Gordon a Magistrate in & for the County aforesaid Personally Appeared Huldah Hill widow She being duly sworn according to Law doth on her oath make the following Statement that She is the widow of John Hill deceased & that She had not Married since the death of said Hill the lapse of time her memory failing her she cannot well recollect months years People on hearing him State at the present the length of his Service before marriage he at the time resided I suppose near two hundred Miles from her & knew him not at that time of his first service & that she knows of no person at the present day by whom She Could Prove he is the identical man Performed the Service mentioned in the Certificate obtained from the rolls in the office in the State as there is others are you State of the Same name Served in the line of this State the Service in this County of the Marriage She well recollects her brothers serving at the Same time & they all Stated to be wounded at the same time on the fight at Bettys Bridge She State that She will be obliged to ask her case on her former Declaration & the Certificate of Service of John Hill annexed thereto with the present Certificates if there is any wrongness in the years or Statements made it is for the want of Memory
