Gov. Craig,
Raleigh, N.C.
My dear Sir:
We will have our final hearing of the Coroner's inquest over the death of Mrs. Wm. Lynch on next Monday Mch. 2" at 3 o'clock in the courthouse and at the request of the six (6) jurymen I have issued witness supoenas for the jailer at Raleigh, Mr. J. R. Jordan also a prisoner there by the name of John Moore, col. and Worth Sanders, col. who is now in the penetenary. I thought it best to have the final hearing in the inquest held here instead of at near Wendell owing to the feeling against one of the witnesses there.
The train from Raleigh if on time arrives here at about 3 o'clock and returns back to Raleigh from Selma at about 6 o'clock. As you know Selma is just four (4) miles from here. I will try to arrange it so that the militia can get back on that 6 o'clock train if they come and wish to do so.
Yours very truly,
Jas. H. Kirkman,
Coroner.
