General Laurence W. Young,
Raleigh, N.C.
My dear General Young:
Proper executive orders have been made in regard to your resignation as Adjutant General and the appointment of your successor. I am not content, however, to part with you in so formal a manner. As Adjutant General you have given North Carolina services valiant, and valuable, and I desire to record my appreciation of the same. The best wishes of the people of this State will go with you to your new field of service.
Sincerely yours,
[unsigned]
