On this 9th day of September 1833 personally appeared before me [intentionally blank] one of the acting Justices of the peace for said County William Edwards and made oath that he in the Revolutionary war knew of the foregoing applicant John Edwards serving two of the tours of duty mentioned in his declaration to wit that of three months under Captain Leftwick against the Shawnee Indians, & that to Ninety six under Capn Payte also for three months the 1st. tour was in the fall of 1778 the last in the spring of the year 1781, for three months, saw said John service each time, & knows that he performed those tours of duty as stated by him.
